Sparrows

Look what the Sparrows got up to last year!

We did it!

Sparrows learnt about a girl called Josie with a vision impairment who, with some help from the Guide Dogs was able to enjoy the same things as her friends. We wanted to help Guide Dogs and children like Josie so took part in a sponsored fun sensory trail.

We took it turns to work our way round an obstacle course blindfolded with a friend to guide us, there we lots of different textures and sounds to experience along the way. We even found some balloons and bells along the guide rope! This fundraising event really helped us to gain an understanding of what it was like to have a vision impairment and the encouragement we received from our guide was wonderful! An amazing achievement for all the children. Well done Sparrows!

Our aim was to raise £29 to pay to support a child and their school for an hour and we exceeded our target and raised £60!! A big thank you to everyone who supported team Sparrows, this money will make a difference for young people with a vision impairment.

Sparrows’ Pilgrimage to Canterbury

The Sparrows visited Canterbury Cathedral yesterday to find out why it is such a special building. They discovered the origins of the Cathedral, and dressed up as Kings, Queens, Knights and Archbishops to help them understand the story of its past whilst having a tour around the magnificent building. They enjoyed creating their own stained glass windows, writing with quills just like the monks used to, and even had a go at stone masonry! More pictures will appear on the Sparrows Webpage soon.
