Owls

Look what the Owls got up to last year!

Owls in Space!

In Owls, we have been learning about space and the Solar System. We made mobiles to demonstrate how the eight planets of the Solar System orbit the Sun. We learnt about distances and sizes and really begun to understand the term 'space'!

Year 6 trip to Cathedral Schools’ Day at Canterbury Cathedral

On 4th October, Year 6 attended Canterbury Cathedral to take part in the special day, Cathedral Schools Day.

Our first workshop was called The Costume Tour. We were allowed to put on a costume if we wanted to: we could choose from knights, monks and pilgrims, or we could dress up as the king or the archbishop. Then we toured around the building being led by a tour guide. Then those of us in costumes took part in a play.

Our second workshop was called Prayers. We were told about how we can support those in need; we learnt about Porchlight, a charity which support homeless people. We listened to prayers and were then given a ribbon on which we could write a message of hope or prayer.

After lunch, we took part in a Worship session with all the other children from the other primary schools. We all sung together and prayed together, and some children for different schools prayed and sung for us. We also took part in a procession of school banners, and we carried the banner that we all helped to make in DT.
