Homework
In the primary phase there are five core subjects – English, Maths, Science, ICT and RE. There are six foundation subjects – Art, Music, P.E., Geography, History and Design Technology. Personal, Social and Health Education and Citizenship underpins all areas of the curriculum but is also taught as a separate subject

Every Friday, all pupils are given a sheet detailing the homework for the week, this allows pupils particularly in KS2 to plan their homework alongside their other activities.

The government guidelines, which have been adopted by the Governing Body are as follows:-
  • In the Reception Year: 10 minutes for reading and 10 minutes for other activities. The reading may be you reading to your child, or it may be your child reading to you.

  • In Years 1 and 2: 10 minutes for reading and 10 minutes for other activities.

  • In Years 3 and 4: 15 minutes for reading and 20 minutes for other activities.

  • In Years 5 and 6: 20 minutes for reading and 30 minutes for other activities.
The role of parents:
  • Provide a reasonably peaceful, suitable place for doing homework.
  • Make it clear that you value homework and support the school in explaining how it can help them make progress.
  • Expect deadlines to be met and check that they are.
  • Give praise (especially to young children) for the completion of homework.
