What is the PFA funding in 2010 and 2011?
In the short term, the school has asked the PFA
to focus on providing much-needed equipment and
improved facilities on the school site, PFA
funds have currently been allocated for the
following:
(1) New nature reserve area
A fantastic project proposed, managed and
match-funded by Kent Stour Countryside Project
to significantly increase the pond at the bottom
of the field and create a new educational nature
reserve with a jetty, pond dipping area, a
nectar bar and much more – a really
inspirational way to bring nature into our
school environment and provide significant
learning opportunities. PFA funds committed =
£1,500 (to match the £1,500 provided by KSCP)
(2) New PA system
A new, comprehensive but portable PA system
including microphones, amplifier and speakers to
enable the school to stage effective indoor and
outdoor presentations and performances (as well
as a reliable ‘Wake Up and Shake Up’ music!) PFA
funds committed = £850
(3) Inspirational outdoor areas
Significant improvement of some of the rather
neglected and underutilized outdoor areas around
the school buildings – to provide inspiring
outdoor zones for learning and play (while
giving consideration to functionality, ecology,
aesthetics, environmental advances and products,
local suppliers and much more. Work has already
started to clear the area between the Arts
Workshop and the Mice classroom. We are
consulting a number of organisations and looking
at other schools/nurseries to ensure that we
make the most of the school’s outstanding
setting. PFA funds committed = TBD as we have
yet to agree the plans for the outdoor areas.
(4) A new sink in the Dragons’ classroom to
replace the broken one. We hope the Dragons will
also design and make their own tiles in their
Art classes, to create a nice surround for the
new sink. PFA funds committed = TBC following
estimate
(5) A new large shed in the Ladybirds’ outdoor
area to provide suitable storage for their play
equipment PFA funds committed = TBC following
choice of shed design and required groundwork.
(6) New playground equipment – this will be
addressed as part of our larger effort to
improve the outdoor areas of the school to
provide improved facilities for learning and
play.
(7) Two new school marquees – for use at school
fairs and other school events.
Funds spent = £170
